Horse Care
- Feeding and watering (correct rations and different kinds of feed)
- Stalls- proper cleaning
- Basic maintenance and care of the horse
Grooming
- Brushing- teaching your children to safely and completely groom a horse.
- Bathing- hands on instruction on bathing a horse along with the care and maintenance of the mane and tail.
- Clipping- simple clipping to specialized breed clipping
- Advanced group learns show grooming and braiding
Saddling
- Tacking up-simple preparation of tacking and un-tacking to prepare you (and your equine friend) for lessons and/or ownership (English and Western)
- Proper fit and maintenance of tack-ensure ultimate safety for you and your horse by instruction of basic cleaning and upkeep.
Ground Work
- Leading (catching and haltering)
- Lunging (for respect and control)
- Fitting and showing
- Haltering a foal
- Basic horsemanship
Riding
- Lessons (English & Western; jumping for advanced students) - a solid understanding between horse and rider
- Trail rides (long and short), depending on availability
- Friday - Parent observation - see progress being made!
Arts and Crafts
Please have available for every day of the camp:
Shoes with a heel (boots)
Helmet (ASTM approved) or bicycle helmet (some available at the farm)
A sack lunch and a snack
Water bottle (stay hydrated!)
Bathing suit & towel
